Ma Xu Dong will make his ONE Championship debut on July 7, 2018 at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” which will take place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China. He will compete against his fellow Chinese mixed martial artist  Zhao Zhi Kang, 22, at a catchweight of 68 kg.

There will be 10 bouts at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.” The bout between Ma and Zhao will be fifth bout of the evening, the first match on the main card.

Along with nine other pairs of “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” contenders, Ma and Zhao met on July 4, 2018. They had their official face-off at the Roof Top Bar of the Park Hyatt in Guangzhou.

Originally, Zhao was set to compete against Meas Meul, 28, of Cambodia at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.” ONE Championship has yet to explain why Meul was replaced by Ma as the opponent of Zhao.

Including Ma and Zhao, there are five Chinese MMA fighters on the “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” card. The other three are Peng Xue Wen, 21, Fu Chang Xin, 25, and Kai “Killer Bee” Ting Chuang, 23.

In the second bout of the evening, Peng will compete against Eddey “The Clown” Kalai, 36, of Malaysia in the strawweight division. The seventh match will be a bantamweight bout between Fu and Rustem Yensebayev, 27, of Kazakhstan.

Chinese MMA fighter “The Demolition Man” Tang De Pan, 26, was originally included on the “ONE: Battle of the Heavens” card. There is still no information why he was replaced by Yensebayev as Fu’s opponent.

In the main event of “ONE: Battle of the Heavens,” Chuang will compete for the first ever ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship. For her to win the inaugural belt, she will have to defeat Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand.

“World-class martial arts makes a triumphant return to the beautiful city of Guangzhou with another spectacular event,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong previously stated. He said Yodcherry and Chuang will be joined by “several of the very best martial arts talent from China and the world.”
