On July 31, 2020, 88rising’s sister label PARADISE RISING announced the launch of its first mixtape titled “semilucent,” which will be released on PARADISE RISING/88rising and distributed by 12Tone Music. The mixtape features songs from five artists curated by PARADISE RISING namely Fern., Jason Dhakal, Kiana V, Leila Alcasid and MASSIAH.

The album brings together PARADISE RISING’s multitalented artists for a sonically pleasing mixtape delivering a taste of their Filipino roots, each with a strong genre specialty that provides variety and harmony to the label.

Kiana V is a highly prolific Neo-soul/Future R&B artist from Manila, Philippines. She is currently based in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Massiah, a Filipino-Ghanian artist, is a star emerging from the underground hip-hop scene in Dumaguete, Philippines. His musical goal is to continue to merge his two cultures through his music.

Dhakal was born and raised in Oman. Having built his love of music from the young age of four, he is a powerful contemporary R&B singer-songwriter.

Alcasid is a talented singer-songwriter who grew up in Australia. She moved to to Manila in 2017 to jumpstart her pop music career.

Rounding out this group is young indie pop artist Fern. whose goal is to create what he calls dream pop, a genre that creates an environment where indie and mainstream listeners can come together for one common thing, the music.

All five artists debut their own track on the new mixtape providing the audience with a full array of sensual and upbeat tracks. The full track list features Dhakal’s “Endlessly + Tenderly,” “Clouds” by Alcasid and Moophs, “On God” by Massiah, Fern’s “Kaori” and “Safe Place” by Kiana V.

While this is the first mixtape to debut under PARADISE RISING, fans can soon expect more song releases, that will be amplified by promotional events, digital content and music video exclusives.
